Two solar power systems with batteries have now been installed at Drummoyne Oval through the Cricket for Climate.
Through the advocacy of Australian Test cricket captain Pat Cummins, Cricket for Climate has co-funded installing solar power systems at Drummoyne Oval. This landmark investment into one of Sydney’s outstanding sporting facilities will help make it more environmentally friendly.
Solar power systems will provide clean energy and reduce emissions, positively impacting the environment. In addition, solar power systems will help to save money on energy costs, making Drummoyne Oval more sustainable in the long term. This is an excellent example of how athletes can use their platform to advocate for change and make a positive difference in the world.
At the City of Canada Bay, we collaborated with Cricket for Climate to install the solar power systems at Drummoyne Oval. This will help reduce the sport’s carbon footprint and contribute to the city’s goal of net zero emissions by 2030.
Solar power is a renewable and sustainable energy source that can help to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. It is also a cost-effective way to generate electricity, especially in areas with high sunlight like Australia. The solar panels at Drummoyne Oval will produce clean, renewable energy that can be used to power the facilities and equipment at the oval.
This project is an excellent example of how local government, the community and the professional sports industry can work together to create a sustainable future for everyone.
