The solar inverter is integrated
Powerwall 3 has a solar inverter built into the unit, so your panels connect straight to the battery. That removes a separate inverter from the install — fewer components on the wall, less conversion loss, and a tidier system.
It can be added to an existing solar setup or installed as part of a brand new system. With three MPPTs it accepts up to 20 kW of solar input, and runs at 97.5% solar-to-home efficiency.
What rebate can you get on a Powerwall 3?
The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which started on 1 July 2025, discounts home battery installs through small-scale technology certificates. In 2026 that works out at roughly $250 per usable kWh — about $3,400 off a 13.5 kWh Powerwall 3 — and it steps down every year until 2030.
The battery must be VPP-capable at installation, though joining a VPP is optional, and it works with either new or existing rooftop solar. We apply the eligible discount to your quote so the figure you see is the figure you pay. Ask us what you qualify for.
Rebate figures current as at September 2026 and subject to change — certificate values move with the market. Confirm the current amount in your quote.
Built in, built tough, built to back you up
Built-in solar inverter
An integrated inverter converts solar into stored electricity without a second box on the wall, accepting up to 20 kW of solar across three MPPTs.
Reliability & longevity
Rated IP55 for indoor or outdoor mounting, operating from −20°C to 50°C, and backed by a 10-year Tesla warranty.
24/7 backup energy
Up to 11.04 kW of continuous backup and 185 A motor start, so heavy loads like air conditioning and pool pumps keep running through an outage.
What happens in a blackout?
Powerwall 3 detects an outage and switches your home over automatically. It delivers up to 11.04 kW of continuous backup power with 185 locked rotor amps for motor start, which is enough to run multiple large appliances at once.
It can also charge ahead of severe weather, topping up to maximum storage capacity before a predicted event. Pair it with a Tesla Wall Connector and you can charge your EV from your own roof rather than the grid.

Questions about the Tesla Powerwall 3
Why should I install a Tesla Powerwall 3 in my home?
Powerwall 3 lets you use the solar you generate during the day after the sun goes down, instead of exporting it cheaply and buying it back at peak rates. Because the solar inverter is built in, it also simplifies the install — one unit on the wall rather than two.
What is the energy storage capacity of the Tesla Powerwall 3?
A single Powerwall 3 stores 13.5 kWh of usable energy. You can install up to 4 Powerwall 3 units together, plus up to 3 Expansion units, for a maximum of 7 units on one system.
Can the Tesla Powerwall 3 power my home during a blackout?
Yes. It switches over automatically when it detects an outage and supplies up to 11.04 kW of continuous backup power, with 185 locked rotor amps for starting motors — enough for appliances like air conditioners and pool pumps.
Where can we mount a Tesla Powerwall 3 home battery?
Powerwall 3 is rated IP55 and operates from −20°C to 50°C, so it can be wall-mounted indoors or outdoors. Our electricians will confirm the best location on site, factoring in shade, access and the distance to your switchboard.
How long is the warranty on the Tesla Powerwall 3?
Tesla provides a 10-year warranty on the Powerwall 3. All Green installs it as a Tesla Certified Premium Installer, using our own electricians rather than subcontractors.
Can I add a Powerwall 3 to my existing solar system?
Yes. Powerwall 3 can be added to an existing solar setup or installed as part of a new system. We check your current inverter and switchboard first and tell you straight whether a retrofit or a full replacement makes more sense.
How much does a Tesla Powerwall 3 cost to install?
The installed cost depends on your switchboard, the mounting location and how much electrical work is needed, so we quote it per property. The federal battery discount is applied to your quote, so the figure you see is the figure you pay.
