What to consider when selecting a new solar company

Solar power companies can go out of business due to the high operation costs especially during the slow down period. In Australia, it is not rare to find solar power companies exiting the market, leading to a loss or reduction in tariffs feed around the country. Most recently, we witnessed the exit of Energy Matters and True Value Solar from the country which reignited the debate because of their enormous presence in the country. If this happens to you, then you have no option but to look for a new solar supplier. Choosing a new solar power company can be confusing especially if you don’t know what to look for. The following are 5 areas to look out for when selecting a solar power supplier.

1. Quality of the solar company
If you are searching for a solar installer in Australia, you might be confused to know which company offers quality solar installation. The first thing to look out for is whether the company offers solar installation in your location. Many companies in the market offer solar installation services but they may not be experts in the field. These companies sell cheap equipment and conduct a poor solar installation. The second factor to consider is how long the solar company has been in operation. The rule of thumb is that you should choose a company that has been in existence for 5 years or more. Third, checking the reviews of the company can help you determine if it is a quality solar company or not.

2. The cost of solar installation
The second factor to consider is the installation cost of the solar panel. While determining the overall solar installation cost, you should consider installation and price per watt cost. You can determine this by dividing the gross cost by total power rating.

3. Types of solar panel
While choosing between different solar power companies you should look at the types of solar panels they offer. Depending on if you want solar panels to heat water or generate electricity for your house you can choose between thermal and photovoltaic solar panels. Thermal solar panels are used to heat water for domestic use. Photovoltaic solar panels convert sunlight into electricity.

4. Warranty of the solar system
Most solar companies in Australia have a workmanship warranty offered on their products. The standard workmanship warranty is 5 to 10 years it is ideal you choose a company that offers 20 to 25 years warranty.

5. Solar equipment quality
Finally, confirm with the solar installer if the solar equipment is of good quality. If you want to know if a solar panel is of good quality you should look at the inverter and the modules.

  • review rating 5  Fantastic team to deal with. Within an hour of the install (which only took half a day) we were making more energy then we were using, and that was on a cloudy day! Highly recommend.

  • review rating 5  All Green Environmental Solutions this week installed a system for us in Northbridge NSW - 8Kw system with 26 Jinko panels and Enphase microinverters. It was the first company I contacted and after meeting with Gary Adair on site having already read reviews of the company, I decided not to bother with competitive quotes. And I wasn't disappointed. The 3 man team led by Bryce turned up as promised at 9am last Tuesday and by 4pm that day we were up and running. Company staff have been both efficient and courteous. Whilst the price I paid is definitely not the cheapest I could have obtained, the professionalism of the company and the confidence that engenders more than makes up for it. I would wholeheartedly recommend All Green Environmental Solutions to anyone considering a solar system.

  • review rating 5  Fantastic friendly service, very professional installers. Pricing was really good and they explained everything in simple terms that I could understand. I would have no hesitation recommending them. Even though they were from the central coast they were happy to come to Sydney and were always on time. It’s awesome dealing with companies like this. Thanks all green

  • review rating 5  May I thank the installer Dave who came around today to troubleshoot and fix my network connectivity with the Enphase envoy. He went to great trouble to hook it up via ethernet so it’s much more reliable and I’m thrilled about that. This is the sort of excellent post-install service you want but don't always get. Recommend.
